Afghan women gallery

A prostitute in Kabul. Decades of war have left thousands of women poverty-stricken, forcing them to turn secretly to prostitution to support their families. If discovered these women would be killed by their families to maintain honor for the family name.

The women's shelter in Kandahar is home to Bibi Aisha, a widow with three children. She is severely mentally unstable which causes the staff to chain her up once a week when she acts up. Other widowed women like Bibi Aisha live at the shelter, most of them suffering from depression. The Human Rights Commission in Kandahar says 86 percent of women in Afghanistan are clinically depressed.

A woman prays at the Kart-e-Sakhi mosque in Kabul. Women are allowed to pray here once a week.

Si se considera ca feminismul nu are nici un rost pe lumea asta :)
